My artistic work arose over two important periods of artistic and life experience. The first period was related to my classical studies at the art academy in Ljubljana and later in Spain, and my adherence to western thought, theory and artistic language. The second period began when I went to Japan to learn more about Japanese culture and artistic techniques, which I endeavour to present in a new aesthetic form of expression in synergy with a western approach and philosophy. My abstractions are inspired by nature and I am constantly searching for intriguing signs from nature which I transform into an abstract language. Depending on my current inspiration, I express my emotions through the simplicity, harmony and minimalism of Sumi-e paintings and through the power, wealth and energy of the colours and structures of acrylic and oil painting.
